AGM 2007 minutes to follow when received.
Executive Committee Meeting
Thursday, 22nd February 2007, 7:30 pm at Pickwicks, Old Fox Yard, Stowmarket, Suffolk.
- Members presentTony Mooney, Geoff Brook, Mark Beaumont, David Aldous, Nora Martin.
- Apologies for absencePeter Avenell, Nathan Morley, Sandra Balaam.
- Minutes of Meeting 21st September 2006 read and agreed; Matters arising
- Butterfly Awards: still nothing heard from ETTA. Peter Avenell to follow up and advise.
- Stowupland TT Centre: no further news on whether it's to be used as was being suggested by Regional ETTA for people with disabilities 4 times annually.
- Junior Umpire paper: need to follow up with the two players who had expressed an interest.
- Correspondence
- Letter from Greg Yarnell (ETTA Regional Development Officer) regarding Regional Performance Centres.
- E-mail from Wesley Bush Harris (ETTA) inviting us to claim up to £80 voucher e.g., could be spent on Butterfly Skills Award.
- E-mail from Martin Ireland (ETTA) - newsletter.
- ETTA letter regarding training/volunteering voucher @ £200.
- Stow Festival letter inviting us to have a stand on 10/6/07; discussed - feelings were that we were doing enough already e.g., Christmas Fayre.
- Nigel Jepson trophy: Nigel was Secretary of Bury league for many years and also undertook to set up and maintain league website. Bury league will be using the trophy to be awarded to Young Player of the Year; meeting agreed £25 donation to this trophy.
- Suffolk Sport asking for availability of trainers/coaches.
- Greg Yarnell putting us forward as Premier Club of the Year Eastern Region; AM responding to query this as the reality is we have not made too much progress.
- Treasurer report
- AM working on end of year accounts.
- All sessions are in a credit position.
- Subscriptions have come in well + Team fees for 2005/6.
- Draft accounts to be ready for year end 28th February 2007.
- Christmas Fayre figures now reconciled; some cash taken on the night not recorded on income side of accounts (these were cash payments made for services on the night).
- New profit figure is £568.05.
- Development officer report
- Monday am sessions doing fine up to Xmas; numbers down post Xmas; some players have been ill or on holiday. Expect numbers to increase.
- Friday am session dropped in mid-December as there was little or no support.
- Tuesday session doing very well; combination of players is good.
- In Touch with Stowmarket valuable promotion of club in December centre spread for Xmas Fayre; substantial space given to follow up in January + thank you(s) in February edition.
- SB planning to provide training to staff using the top sport bag @ Cedars Park Primary School.
- Clubmark - review of action plan needed plus other important issues to be addressed.
- Meeting of Development Sub-Committee scheduled for 21/3/07.
- Claire Ferguson, PDM @ Stowmarket High PA, completed school coaching sessions; CF writing out to primaries possible central venue @ Stowupland High or Stowmarket Middle Schools.
- Club Captain report
- No report received
- Eagles team in Bury St Edmunds Division 1 currently lying in 6th/8 position could finish higher.
- Jaguars team in Division 2 lying 6th/7 will probably finish the season in this position.
- Nora reported that some league teams turn up late for their matches; suggest if both teams agree in these circumstances play across 2 tables. Also remind opposition players that Juniors may be involved and at Stowupland we pay on a timed basis.
- Bury League Championships
- Congratulations go to Carol Clarke for winning the Ladies Singles, Ian Brown the Men's; Carol was also runner-up with Jonathan Batchford in the Mixed Doubles.

- Director of Coaching report
- None available.
- Coaching to be discussed at scheduled Development sub-committee meeting on 21/3/07.
- 2007 Christmas Fayre
- Crucial for more help if we go ahead with Xmas Fayre
- GB outlined objectives given that our involvement at a late stage in the 2006 Christmas Fayre had produced such a healthy profit of £500+.
- By better and earlier planning we could increase the profit level substantially which would help the club in the area of development and coaching.
- Discussion followed; in principal agreed to seek approval from Stowmarket District Council but go ahead given provided we get commitment for more help from our membership.
- MB suggested a partner such as ATC and their junior cadets to help on the night in exchange for a donation
- GB agreed to write to: Stowmarket Town Council, Stowmarket ATC.
- In addition MB has sounded out the Aldi organisation to sponsor Street Entertainer in return for advertising in the town centre on the day/night.
- Date agreed for Fayre Friday 14th December 2007.
- MB suggested free membership to those involved in helping through the day or on the night; that would need approval at AGM.
- Date of next meeting
- AGM on 16th May 2007 at Pickwicks.
- Any other Business
- Club Website up for renewal; committee thanked David Aldous for his financial support.
- AM proposed we purchase a new table given our financial situation, especially as some of our tables have gone to our second site. Agreed.
- Mark/David potential level 1 coaches under new regulations; Pete to liaise and also to think about any other likely candidates.
